PhilanthropicPhilanthropic…charitable, benevolent, humanitarian, generous. You could add GKWC to the list because it is synonymous with philanthropy and it is obvious throughout the North Tarrant County area. We have multiple ways of giving in our community including projects that help local charitable organization raise funds at their events; picking up trash along the streets, and serving food at senior citizens’ special events, among others.
We seem to have a real knack for earning dollars as well, allowing us ways to exercise that philanthropic spirit! We have two basic ways we earn dollars, with separate ways to use those funds for good. The Greater Keller Women's Club puts on a great fashion show each year on behalf of the Greater Keller Women's Club Foundation. The foundation is a 501 (c) (3) organization and donates only to organizations with the same non-profit group classification. Each year we have a grant application process and distribute the funds raised through the fashion show at a heart-warming dinner in June. Through volunteering, additional funds are raised by The Greater Keller Women's Club. We are paid by the hour to help at a variety of events, such as the Texas Motor Speedway’s races and Oktoberfest in Southlake. These funds, along with sales from our “Texas Wildflours” cookbook, and our annual craft auction dinner, are used to help individuals in the community. Disbursements are considered by the Philanthropic Committee, presented to the board, and then voted on by the membership. To submit a request for a donation, please contact philanthropic@gkwc.org. The Greater Keller Women's Club is a “social” club with a purpose, and that purpose is to help others. Although we have a lot of fun at all our meetings, volunteer opportunities, and special events, we seem to consistently find ways to earn dollars for both individuals and organizations in need. Big-hearted and generous could easily define the character of the Greater Keller Women's Club. If you can identify with those traits or are inspired by this type of organization, please join us at our next meeting. We’d love to have you join us in “having fun, helping others.” |
