2009 Fashion Show

The 2009 Garden of Roses Fashion Show was a clever display of ingenuity, creativity, resourcefulness… and was accomplished with style!  Let’s take look back at the day….

There were 597 beautiful guests in attendance, as was the Grand Ballroom, the Silent and Live Auction tables, and of course the models.  The theme for the day “Timeless” permeated the décor, the music, and the fashions.

Jan Tomlinson’s marvelously engineered stage was set for a demonstration of timeless fashions including the little black dress, the pumps, the pearls, the clutch, and that updated yet dependable blazer.  These elements were demonstrated throughout the show.

Dorene Badalamenti, along with the team from Dillards and Terrace Retreat Salon and Day Spa put on a seamless show of the latest trends.  We found new ideas for using our current wardrobes by adding a few additional pieces to keep it current.  The models were entertaining as they danced and pranced down the runway…and it was hard to tell who was having the most fun.

Ginger Allen as Mistress of Ceremonies and Rick Stacy as Auctioneer, provided a lively and entertaining time and ticket-holders demonstrated once again their generosity during the auctions.  Bobby Baillargeon with DFW Audi and Rick Stacy with Stacy Furniture committed their resources as presenting sponsors along with Linda Bowden from Fresherized Foods.  Their generosity combined with all GKWC sponsor contributions, auction and tickets sales, allowed the GKWC Foundation the opportunity to fund many local charities once again.

Additionally, the display of the “Timeless” theme was carried out in the hard work and long hours given by co-chairs Vickie Elms and Jean Manuszak.  They led a team of women through ten months of planning and preparing for one of the best fashions shows in the GKWC’s 20 year history.  Their committee members and all who contributed are to be commended for their dedication and efforts.

The philanthropic committee diligently reviewed all of the grant applications, and funds from the 2009 Garden of Roses Fashion Show were distributed at the June meeting at the Timarron Country Club.

Many thanks to our 2009 Fashion Show Sponsors.
